Chiropractic care offers far more benefits than simply reducing back pain. It can also aid in the prevention of illness. Regular adjustments help the nervous system to function at ‘optimal health’ at all times. This in turn reduces sick days, and improves recovery time for Chiropractic patients. Chiropractors have worked with numerous companies to significantly reduce sickness absence costs, and costs due to lost productivity. They have shown, and documented, that employees are often able to remain at work, or return to work within a small number of treatments.
Working to support your occupational health / personnel department, we can help your staff with an improved ability to cope with the increasing stresses placed upon them in the work environment and life in general. This ability to cope better has a direct result of increased performance. Chiropractic care focuses on increasing the performance of the nervous system, which controls every function of the body. A significant increase in staff production can be realised when there is a reduction in staff absenteeism, and staff are able to cope better with stress.
A Chiropractic case study
The UK BEAM trial team (2004) found that adjustments, with or without exercise, improved symptoms more than best care alone (general practitioners) after three and twelve months. In 1993 a 160-page report was published by the British Medical Association, ‘Complementary Medicine – New Approaches to Good Practices’. The report is the result of a study conducted by the BMA’s Board of Science and Education by Professor Thomas W. Meade, director of the Medical Research Council, Epidemiology and Medical Care Unit, London. He was the principal investigator of a British study that revealed five distinct conclusions for Chiropractic with comparison to all other therapeutic interventions:
- Chiropractic was the most effective
- Chiropractic was the most cost effective
- Chiropractic was the safest
- Chiropractic had the best long term prognosis
- Chiropractic had the greatest patient satisfaction
These results were still found to be the case at a 5 year follow-up study.
The cost to UK industry from absenteeism resulting from back pain is estimated at £5 billion (Tessa Jowell, Minister for Public Health 1999)
- In a survey of around 300 GPs spanning 2007-2009 it was revealed that musculoskeletal disorders accounted for 53% of all reported work-related ill health, which in turn accounted for 37% of all lost working days.
The health of your company is dependant on the health of your staff.
