Our Team
All our Chiropractors are University trained, and are registered with the General Chiropractic Council and the United Chiropractic Association.
The clinic has official research status, allowing our Chiropractors to produce current research for the profession (See our blog for recent studies).
Meet the team below:
Wayne Whittingham
Doctor of Chiropractic
Wayne comes from a family of chiropractors. His father Dr Ken Whittingham, who set up Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic in 1972, was renowned for saying ‘kids, you can be anything you want to in life, as long as you are a chiropractor!’ They all became chiropractors! Wayne’s sister, Yvonne, practices in Sweden and his brother, Bruce, in Surfer’s Paradise.
Wayne lost his father to an accident in 1990 and his mum, Elisabeth Whittingham, continued to run the practice developing and growing it to bring chiropractic to the city of Plymouth. Wayne graduated in RMIT in Australia, where he continued to study for his PhD, the first in the world on Chiropractic for the treatment of Headaches.
Wayne came back to the UK in 1997 and has enjoyed many years now running the clinic.
Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic have achieved the PPQM and CMQM awards a number of times from the College of Chiropractors and are one of only a handful of research clinics in the UK. Wayne has also been involved in research with the Peninsula Medical School at Plymouth University on the benefits of Chiropractic and dizziness, and was awarded Chiropractor of the year in 2012 by The United Chiropractic Association, which he dedicated to his mum who passed away at the beginning of 2012.

Jonathan Cook
Doctor of Chiropractic
Jon joined our team in 2010, having qualified from Anglo-European Chiropractic College in Bournemouth in 2009.
Jon has always known he would end up in some kind of healthcare profession, but he struggled to find inspiration in any of the mainstream occupations.
Jon immediately admired the approach of chiropractic: that is, putting a patient in charge of their own health and allowing them to make decisions for themselves, rather than just telling them what to do.
“The most motivating part of my job is watching a patient’s health flourish and getting them back into the hobbies, jobs and pursuits that they love. Many patients are surprised at just how much impact chiropractic care can have. They usually arrive experiencing some pain, expecting that to be the only element that’s addressed. It’s inspiring and exciting to see them regaining control of their health, lives and happiness by making the positive changes that chiropractic teaches them all about.”
Jon was born and raised in Plymouth and, after completing his chiropractic degree, he moved back to live in Millbrook. Jon loves the relaxing surrounds of the area and enjoys going for runs or walks along the river or by the beach. “I live by my own advice, getting adjusted regularly, eating well and exercising as often as possible. I’ve run both the Plymouth half marathon and Tough Mudder twice in recent years.”

Silas Keeling
Doctor of Chiropractic
Silas qualified in 2013 and joined our team in 2016, after working at another clinic in Totnes. Day by day Silas witnesses in practice the importance of 'getting moving' and is passionate about helping others access the physical and mental benefits of doing just this.
When Silas was in college a close friend underwent Chiropractic care and Silas was amazed not only by the effective pain relief they got, but also how it improved all aspects of their life by enabling them to keep doing what they loved. Silas immediately looked in to studying Chiropractic, and did so at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic.
Silas loves all things outdoors and spends most of his free time climbing, hiking or running, when he is not gallivanting up and down mountains or tinkering in his long term camper-van conversion project.
Silas sees it as his role to get people back on their feet, doing what they love and living life to the fullest. He finds that a healthy balanced diet, a positive outlook on life and Chiropractic care is the key to keeping them well for long term health and well-being.

Adam Osborne
Practice Manager
Adam joined Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic in 2003, knowing he could only stay for 6 months as he had already accepted a place at Chiropractic College. Many years later, Adam is still with us as Practice Manager, putting his Management qualifications to good use, and if there's something he doesn't know about the running of the clinic, it's probably not worth knowing!
Adam is always on the end of our clinic emails and social media contacts, and very rarely switches off - much to his wife's annoyance at times! - but if you have a question, he can help you find the answer.
Although Adam didn't make it to Chiropractic College, he is passionate about everything Chiropractic and fully embraces the Chiropractic lifestyle. Adam's wife and kids all have regular Chiropractic care to give them the best chance of being as fit and healthy as possible.

Cathy
Chiropractic Assistant since 2006
Cathy started care with us in 2000, and had such a positive experience she fast became a strong advocate for chiropractic care, introducing many friends and family to the benefits of Chiropractic care. When the role of Chiropractic Assistant became available in 2006, Cathy was an obvious choice.
Cathy found herself needing to reduce her hours at the clinic, in favour of spending time with her Grandchildren - which has since become a full-time job itself which she loves - but she couldn't see herself not being part of our team, and is currently with us just 5 hours a week
Cathy may only be with us on a Wednesday morning now, but she is a well-loved, irreplaceable member of the team, and Wednesday mornings are all the better when she's here!
Cathy is known for her carefree banter, frequent holidays, and singing along (loudly) to our music!

Nettie
Chiropractic Assistant
After making such a wonderful impression on all of us at her interview in 2016, by literally coming in to the clinic through the back door, Nettie was invited to join our front desk team as a Chiropractic Assistant.
For many years Nettie had worked full-time in purchase ledger & administration before going in to healthcare, and was excited to explore the roles a Chiropractic Assistant would bring.
Nettie, in a word, is hilarious! Her fantastic sense of humour, her unwavering caring nature and infectious laugh has many of us in tears of laughter on a daily basis. Her determination, flexibility and work ethic has meant that we simply wouldn't want to be without her!
Nettie enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to music concerts, and the occasional holiday.

Amie - Currently on Maternity Leave
Front Desk
Amie joined our team in 2018 as a Chiropractic Assistant, and despite only being with us for 10 hours a week, has fast become a popular and capable member of our front desk team. Amie has a wonderful manner with our patients and works hard to ensure the roles she has been given are completed to the best of her ability.
Away from the clinic, Amie is a full-time Herds-woman spending many hours a week caring for cows, or out horse-riding and dog walking.

Tammy
Chiropractic Assistant and Massage Therapist
Tammy qualified as a holistic therapist in 2006 and subsequently went on to undertake a foundation degree in complementary health studies.
She joined our team in 2011, working alongside our principle chiropractor Dr Wayne Whittingham, 2 days a week, conducting a light massage with patients before their Chiropractic adjustments.
Tammy's calming, care-free nature and positive outlook on life, has led to a fantastic working relationship with the whole team, especially with Wayne, for which we are all very grateful.
In her spare time Tammy is the lead singer for 7-piece soul band 'Jessica and The Rabbits', and can be found gigging around Devon and Cornwall most weekends!

Laura
Chiropractic Assistant & Massage Therapist
Laura is a qualified Beauty and Massage Therapist, who joined Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic in 2015 to work alongside both Dr Jonathan Cook (Chiropractor) and Dr Wayne Whittingham (Chiropractor), conducting a couple of minutes of light massage on patient's before their Chiropractic adjustments.
Laura's relaxed and easy-going nature has become invaluable when trying to balance supporting Jon, Wayne, the front desk team, and the many patients that seek our help on a daily basis.
Laura is a mum to 4 lovely children, who, like Laura have regular Chiropractic adjustments, in an attempt to stay on top of common postural issues associated with growth, and sometimes ‘normal’ every-day health complaints can be addressed before they develop.

Helen
Massage Therapist
Helen joined our team in 2006 from a nursing background, and despite previous work colleagues expecting her to return after only a couple of months, Helen remained a valuable part of our Chiropractic Team for 12 years, fully embracing the Chiropractic lifestyle.
During her time with us, Helen trained as a massage therapist and has a keen interest in helping with sports injury and maintenance. In 2019 Helen decided to focus her attention solely as a Massage Therapist, and currently uses one out of a room at Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Her massage experience and knowledge of Chiropractic care has meant that Helen can support the Chiropractic Team to deliver the best results possible when it comes to your care.
Helen spends her free time running, cycling and spending time with her 5 grandchildren.
